The
event started with a nice dinner on Saturday evening at the Eagles Nest -a
restaurant at the golf club. We had many guest speakers including one we will
remember
-the man with the funny hat
Dr. Dennis Wyant
who made everybody laugh with his jokes.
Joe McCourt who organized the
event, -performed and sang Save The Last Dance For Me, (I overheard people saying
he probably sings better than he plays golf...) We all had a great time staying
at the Key West Inn by the river and enjoyed the nice restaurant Captain Hirams
near by.
Sunday was the first day we played,
the
format was scramble with 15 teams playing. The weather forecast was not
promising but we made it without rain and had a good golf game meeting new and
old friends. The course was "player friendly" not a ball where lost on the wide
fairways. After the game we all ate a "do it your self sandwich". Joe Mc Court
added up the scores and announced the winning teams that where presented nice
prices given by generous sponsors.
You may have seen on some pictures -red marks upon the cheeks on some people.
This was not a disorder -it is the trademark by
Angela O'Rourke.
Her lipstick is not "kiss-proof" and I hope some players had no problem
explaining to their mates the lipstick on the cheek when they came home. The
pictures would proof that it was not what they might have thought, -it was
Angela who left her trademarks....
Monday was the tournament day and the
rain clouds came rolling in from all directions but so far left us dry. All 11
teams started at 9 am shotgun loaded with umbrellas just in case... Everybody
who played fast where lucky and got inside before the rain started to poor down.
However I think most of us made it before it got worse. Well inside we where
treated with a lunch and the hot coffee made us feel warmer. Joe McCourt added
the scores and Dennis Wyant prepared the awards consisted of gold and silver
medals. Most teams got a reward and the picture book
have them all so please scroll among the pictures to find yours.
We where ready to leave the Eagles Nest around 5 pm to go back to the nice hotel
for dinner and prepare for the next day departure. Hope you all arrived safe at
home and that we will see each other soon again. Till next time have a wonderful
Christmas and a Happy New Year with new golf resolutions and good scores in
mind.
Yours truly
Hansiboy.
